Pre/Post Care Instructions for SkinPen Elite Microneedling

BEFORE TREATMENT

• Avoid excessive sun exposure for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
• Stop topical retinoids and actives at least 72 hours before your appointment
• Arrive with clean skin and no makeup if possible.
• This procedure cannot be performed on a sunburn, cold sore, active breakout, rash, or open area in the treatment zone. Please alert the office to post one your treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Redness (like a mild sunburn), dryness and light flaking over 3-5 days are to be expected and part of the normal healing process

AFTER TREATMENT

• Keep skin clean and untouched for 24 hours. Don’t apply any make up or products unless approved by your provider. After 24 hours, you may generally begin using gentle skincare products free of actives and SPF for 1 week
• Avoid direct sun exposure for 72 hours
• Avoid any activities that can raise your body temperature such as intense exercise or using hot tubs for 72 hours
• For 1 week, or as directed: avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), benzoyl peroxide, scrubs, peels, and other potentially irritating active skincare products.

MAXIMIZING BENEFITS

• Use high-quality skincare products such as ceramides, growth factors, exosomes, and keep the skin moisturized.
• Practice good sun protection.
• Be patient: skin remodeling and collagen-related improvements develop gradually over weeks to months. A series of sessions may be recommended depending on your goals.
